Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear that Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2026 will be decided by the Government of Pakistan — not the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Speaking to the media, Naqvi stressed that the PCB operates under the government’s authority and will strictly follow state directives regarding the global tournament.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board is under the government, not the ICC,” Naqvi said, emphasizing that the final decision rests at the national level.
The PCB chief revealed that formal consultations with the Prime Minister will take place once he returns to the country. A clear decision and future strategy will be announced after those discussions. Until then, Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup remains uncertain, fueling speculation across the cricketing world.
Addressing the ongoing controversy involving the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Naqvi termed the situation unfair and unjust. He cautioned against allowing any single country to dominate or influence decisions affecting other cricket boards.
“No one country should be allowed to dictate terms to other cricket boards,” he added.
Taking aim at the global governing body, Naqvi urged the ICC to ensure equal and fair treatment for all member nations, free from favoritism or political pressure.
He further stated that once the government communicates its decision, the PCB will immediately inform the public about the next steps and future course of action. With the T20 World Cup drawing closer and key political consultations still pending, Pakistan’s cricketing future remains uncertain — and the cricketing world is watching closely.
